Clara Cortés Soler (ES)

She graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 2013.
After, she had a couple of months in the north of Spain, where she joined the chalcography
course of the Master Obra Grafica of Fundación CIEC. From 2014 to 2018 Clara was living
in the rainy Netherlands, studying at the Circus and Performance Art in Fontys (Tilburg).
She has interest in new formats, the use of new technologies and the hybrid scene. With her
background of Fine Arts, she brings new and innovative impulses into circus. She operates
with digital tools and social media and feels home in the current art flow.
Her prototype is Baby don’t hurt me (time 30min)
Baby don’t hurt me is a part of the European Hand to hand circus and residency project and was developed in an immersion residency in the salt marshes of Solana Ston, Croatia. Hosted by ROOM 100, Croatia.
Baby don’t hurt me is a love declaration; an exploration about intimacy, love and care in relation to ecology and the sea.
It is a hybrid performance with contemporary circus elements that takes place in the public space. During 25 minutes, a reduced audience will be guided through a path with the support of digital elements (mobile phone and head phones) and other analogical tools that will bring all the senses on the game.
Baby don’t hurt me is a participatory performance that opens a dialog in between different topics as the cultural heritage, the tourism and the landscape.
With a sense of humour and a poetic sense, Clara invites the audience to sing together and fall in love.
Clara’s research delves into the concept of intimacy and connection. Her work also extends to an interest in new performative formats, and how they can offer spaces for shared emotional experiences and deeper connection between participants.
